Macedon Kindergarten has had a colourful history, including the possibility of relocation. One day in 2012 Scott was doing "kinder duty" when he realised the potential of the space available at the Kindergarten. He approached Julie, the Kinder teacher, with his thoughts and they had lengthy discussion about the endless possibilities for the blank canvas before them. Scott was excited by their ideas and knew that the children would have great enjoyment in exploring and experiencing the suggested constructions in the Kinder garden.

With the help of local garden designer Sue Meli, Scott and Julie created a landscape proposal to put before the Kindergarten Committee. The proposal included the offer that SBJ Landscapes would provide the labour to construct the vision.
The committee happily accepted the proposal and gave Scott the opportunity to give something back to his local community. There followed a few months of discussion and design detailing and two stages of works were agreed upon.
Stage 1 commenced in September 2013 and for a solid two weeks the SBJ Team devoted time, labour and expertise to create the amazing:

  • dry river bed (with gold dust and nuggets);
  • Pirate ship (with flag), and the
  • native flowing garden.

At the completion of Stage 1 the Kindergarten held an open day to celebrate the new features and a wonderful time was had by all.
SBJ Landscapes likes to be involved with the local community and to give or help with such endeavours, and on this occasion donated time, labour and machinery usually costing approximately $20,000. The kinder committee did the hard work of fund raising for the required materials - another $10,000.
So Scott and his Team look forward to the implementation of Stage 2 and another successful joint effort between the local community and SBJ Landscapes.
